The April 29th, 2014 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Josh Hamilton has cast removed, ranking MLB announcers and much more…

The Story: Josh Hamilton had his cast removed and is 3-4 weeks from a return.
The Monkey Says: That is right around where he should be, so this isn’t much of an update, but at least he hasn’t fallen behind schedule.

The Story: Ranking all of the announcing teams in MLB.
The Monkey Says: The Angels broadcast team checks in at number nine, which feels about right. I like Rojas quite a bit and am indifferent to Gubicza. My feeling with them is that they may not always add to the enjoyment of the game but they seldom ever take away from it. You can’t ask for much more than that.

The Story: A look at whether Mike Trout’s increased strike out rate is real or not.
The Monkey Says: If the only real thing that has changed is his contact rate, then I would expect it to come down in a hurry. Trout will figure out what is wrong in his approach and correct. That is just what he does.

The Story: Grant Green is getting “reacquainted” with playing the outfield.
The Monkey Says: It would make a lot of sense to have Green around as a right-handed bat to take on lefties and having him play the outfield again would make it easier to get him into the lineup. It doesn’t sound like they think he will be comfortable enough there to be called up soon, but if their current reserves don’t start hitting, they may not have another choice.

The Story: Albert Pujols’ resurgence is coming against the fastball.
The Monkey Says: This should dispel the notion that he was losing bat speed as he is now taking “hard stuff” and punishing it. But he also isn’t cheating to do it, which it certainly appeared he was at times in 2013 and, to a lesser extent, in 2012.

The Story: Albert Pujols and Vladimir Guerrero headline the all-time Dominican Republic team.
The Monkey Says: That isn’t really an actual thing, but good for them.
