Remember back in the beginning of the year, and really the two years before that as well, when the Angels seemingly couldn’t get a hit with runners on base to save their collective life? It is starting to feel like that again. This offense has too much talent to keep performing so poorly, but that doesn’t make it any easier to suffer through these last few weeks of offensive ineptitude. The Dodgers series was the nadir of those struggles, but after the showing in the game, it might take some time for them to get back to their old selves. All the while, their odds at winning the division continue to dwindle.
Run Expectancy Rundown
You guys, Chris Iannetta can’t keep carrying the offense. It doesn’t work. Someone is going to have to step up and be useful for a change. That would be much appreciated.
Yoenis Cespedes and Mike Napoli killed the Angels. It wouldn’t be so frustrating if it wasn’t so utterly predictable.
Starting Pitcher Scores
Another “meh” outing for Jered Weaver. Just another game where he didn’t quite have his command and had to battle the whole time as a result. He lost the battle. Allen Webster wasn’t all that great in his own right so much as the Angel bats just don’t seem to be working right now.
Bullpen Battle
The Angels relievers did their job of keeping the game close. The problem was that the Angel offense didn’t do their job and take advantage when they had a chance against Tazawa so that they could tie the game before Koji came in. Then they actually got to Uehara and still couldn’t get the job done. Not a great night for the Boston relievers, but an even worse night for the Halo hitters.
