The September 23rd, 2014 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Moreno made Scioscia and Dipoto work out differences, Kendrick nursing sore hamstring and much more…

The Story: Arte Moreno made Mike Scioscia and Jerry Dipoto work out their philosophical differences.
The Monkey Says: What I find more interesting than that is that Scioscia had never met with Dipoto until the day Jerry was hired. Everyone assumed Scioscia had some say in the GM hiring, but, if this is true, he clearly didn’t have much.

The Story: Howie Kendrick sat out Monday’s game to rest a sore hamstring, but could’ve played.
The Monkey Says: Scioscia didn’t want to take any chances. Besides, it gave them another chance to let Gordon Beckham play and earn (or not earn) a spot on the postseason roster.

The Story: A hypothetical AL MVP ballot.
The Monkey Says: There is very little in here about Trout, which is kind of the point of me linking to it. Him winning the AL MVP is a given. Cameron would be the sort to vote for him anyway, but I honestly haven’t seen any BBWAA types writing any columns trying to prop someone else up as an MVP candidate to oppose Trout. It is nice to have the award not devolve into a holy war for a change.

The Story: Josh Hamilton hit off a tee, but remains questionable for the ALDS.
The Monkey Says: They say he will try to play at some point in the final series in Seattle. Even if he can handle the pain, there is no telling how effective he will be.

The Story: Matt Shoemaker played light catch but is unlikely to pitch again in the regular season.
The Monkey Says: He has a shot at pitching in the ALDS still, but he may not get much of a chance to throw and real workload before then.
