The October 30th, 2014 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Angels pick up Street’s option, decline Burnett’s, return Moran to Mariners and much more…

The Story: The Angels exercised the 2015 option for Huston Street, but declined Sean Burnett’s.
The Monkey Says: Street will earn $7 million, which is a very reasonable price, especially when someone like Koji Uehara is getting $9 million per year, which is why this decision was a foregone conclusion. Burnett’s decline was a foregone conclusion as well and only cost the Angels $500,000.

The Story: Brian Moran was returned to the Seattle Mariners.
The Monkey Says: A Rule V draft pick, he’s recovering from Tommy John surgery and the Angels don’t want him cluttering up a 40-man roster spot while he tries to rehab.

The Story: Key offseason dates for the Angels.
The Monkey Says: And all other teams, but whatever. Still, these are all good to know going forward, especially that the offseason starts Tuesday because Jerry Dipoto sure does like to get going on the action early.

The Story: The 2014 GIBBY Award nominees.
The Monkey Says: Unregulated fan voting, the one award balloting system worse than the BBWAA.

The Story: Examining C.J. Wilson’s poor 2014 season.
The Monkey Says: It looks like he is a mechanical mess, according to this. That’s not much of a surprise. I still keep waiting for him to announce that he’s had surgery for an unspecified arm issue, but that hasn’t happened yet, which is even more concerning.
