The November 13th, 2014 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Dipoto gives Wilson a vote of confidence, Trout a lock for AL MVP and much more…

The Story: Jerry Dipoto gave C.J. Wilson a vote of confidence.
The Monkey Says: He also didn’t because he was sure to point out that there was no physical issue that caused Wilson’s problems in 2014. Essentially, his vote of confidence is really a statement that Wilson has no excuse if he still sucks when the 2015 season starts.

The Story: Mike Trout has gone from high school to MVP in five years.
The Monkey Says: Five years after I finished high school I was spending most of my time living at my parents’ house and watching Spongebob when I was supposed to be looking for a job. Damn, overachiever.

The Story: Mike Trout is the clear favorite for AL MVP.
The Monkey Says: He will win, but will it be unanimous? It should be, but I don’t think it will because some saber-hating troll is going to try and justify Victor Martinez being more of an MVP because of the Angels winning their division so handily and/or Martinez having a much higher batting average. I think there is even a small chance that someone will try and find a way to have him third on their ballot. That might be a bridge too far though.

The Story: No Angel pitchers appeared on an AL Cy Young ballot.
The Monkey Says: Kudos to the BBWAA for not giving Weaver a token down-ballot vote for being tied for the league lead in wins.

The Story: Matt Shoemaker got outdueled by Kenta Maeda in the first game of the Japan Series.
The Monkey Says: Maeda should make it up to Shoemaker by signing with the Angels. It is the honorably thing to do.

The Story: Collin Cowgill and Garrett Richards were officially declared Super Two arbitration eligibles.
The Monkey Says: As expected, move along, nothing to see here.

The Story: Cuban super prospect Yoan Moncada held a workout yesterday.
The Monkey Says: The Angels are not mentioned as being in attendance. Take that for what you will in the ongoing debate about whether or not the Halos will be a player in the Moncada signing race.

The Story: The Angels rank fifth in Baseball Prospectus’ roster core rankings.
The Monkey Says: STARZ AND SCRUBZ 4 EVA!

The Story: A graphical look at the 2015 payroll obligations for each team.
The Monkey Says: The Angels have the third-highest obligation which is a big reason why they are shopping Howie Kendrick right now. Like, literally, right NOW. As you are reading this, Jerry Dipoto is on the phone or exchanging texts with some other GM about Howie Kendrick.

The Story: Assessing Mike Scioscia’s bullpen management.
The Monkey Says: I don’t know that I’d say Scioscia got better at managing the pen so much as he was given so much talent to work with that he couldn’t possibly screw it up.
