The November 19th, 2014 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including comparing Mike Trout and Giancarlo Stanton’s contracts, Angels remaining patient with Cowart and much more…

The Story: Giancarlo Stanton’s new contract puts Mike Trout’s deal in perspective.
The Monkey Says: Trout actually has a better deal since it protects the Angels more in the long-term. The way Stanton’s deal is backloaded makes it unlikely he’ll ever opt-out but also makes it very hard for the Marlins to trade Stanton (if he even allowed it, since he has a no-trade clause). It is worth noting though that Trout still will hold the highest annual salary at $33.25 million starting in 2018, even with Stanton’s big new deal, which tops out at $32 million.

The Story: The Angels are remaining patient with Kaleb Cowart.
The Monkey Says: That position change isn’t coming anytime soon. It sounds like he will return to Double-A, but I can’t help but think that maybe bumping him to Triple-A Salt Lake might not do his confidence some good by letting him hit in the altitude. Nothing else seems to be working, so why not give it a try?

The Story: The Angels hired Dave Anderson to be their new manager in Triple-A.
The Monkey Says: He had been a coach in the Orioles organization in 2013, but was the first base coach for the Rangers before that, so this very much feels like a Servais hiring.

The Story: Roving infield instructor Jeff Pickler has left the Angels for a front office job with the Dodgers.
The Monkey Says: I bet he was really good at teaching fielders how to play pickle.

The Story: Matt Shoemaker pitched a solid game in MLB’s win to close out the Japan All-Star Series.
The Monkey Says: I’m sure this impacts you all very significantly.
