The January 20th, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Angels release Yoslan Herrera, Olney calls Halos sixth-best team and much more…
The Story: The Angels released Yoslan Herrea so that he could sign in Japan.
The Monkey Says: A minor hit to the Angels’ bullpen depth, but Herrera was an older pitcher likely to get leapfrogged by younger players anyway. At best he was a fringe major leaguer due to his lousy command and pedestrian offspeed pitches. This is no great loss.
The Story: Buster Olney rankes the top 10 teams in MLB.
The Monkey Says: He has the Angels at #6, if you feel like cranking up some internet outrage over meaningless rankings.
The Story: The updated Vegas World Series odds.
The Monkey Says: The Angels are at 12/1, which ties them with the Cards, Cubs and BoSox and behind only the Nats and Doyers. Like Olney’s rankings, this is meaningless as far as really evaluating teams.
