The January 26th, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Hamilton has high expectations for himself, Weaver bulks up and much more…

The Story: Josh Hamilton has high expectations for himself in 2015.
The Monkey Says: Yeah, he probably should keep that to himself. Setting big goals for yourself can be a great motivator, but… yeah, not so much for you, Josh. A .300/30/100 season just is absurd (only two hitters did that last season and one of them was NOT Mike Trout) and him making this public only opens himself up to scorn and ridicule. Then again, he’s going to be scorned and ridiculed plenty even if he never speaks in public again, so I guess there isn’t much downside either.

The Story: Jered Weaver has bulked up to 224 pounds.
The Monkey Says: He’s in the… wait for it… BEST SHAPE OF HIS LIFE! Actually, this is kind of crazy. He said he weighed 199 lbs. after last season. I’m two inches shorter than Weaver and I would look like Christian Bale in The Machinist if I was 199 pounds. I suppose this can’t hurt him, unless this just means he is going to show up for training camp with a big ol’ beer gut.

The Story: Jon Daniels got a laugh and round of applause after shooting down Josh Hamilton trade rumors at Rangers Fan Fest this last weekend.
The Monkey Says: See what I am saying about scorn and ridicule?

The Story: Erick Aybar is preparing for life with a new double play partner.
The Monkey Says: Why bother? He’s got four or five different guys it could be and nobody has any clue who will win the second base job. How he would prepare for five different players is beyond me. The real nugget in here though is that the Angels seem to have completely backed away from the idea of re-signing Gordon Beckham.

The Story: Garrett Richards and Cam Bedrosian both changed PECOTA’s mind for this year.
The Monkey Says: Pfft. PECOTA, you indecisive bastard. How dare you take into account new information and update your projections like a good projection system should
