The January 30th, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including two Angels in Law’s top 100 prospects, Angels corner infield depth chart and much more…

The Story: Keith Law has two Angels in his list of top 100 prospects.
The Monkey Says: He has Andrew Heaney at #58 and, in a mild surprise, Sean Newcomb at #48. Where exactly they rank is really pretty trivial, I’m just glad that the Angels have two guys in the top 100. I’m not sure when the last time that happened was.

The Story: Previewing the Angels corner infielder depth chart.
The Monkey Says: Alden throws out the idea of it being preferable for the Angels to have a platoon at third base for Freese. That isn’t in the cards, but Kyle Kubitza could make it an option by mid-season if things go well. The Halos didn’t really plan their bench out well enough for that as they don’t even have a left-handed platoon bat for second base, where there is an even bigger need.

The Story: Mike Trout is Fred Lynn’s favorite player.
The Monkey Says: That’s the entire story. It isn’t even 100 words long. But, hey, nice to see that Fred Lynn has good taste, right?

The Story: Ranking the 30 best starting pitchers.
The Monkey Says: Garrett Richards checks in at #19. There is no justification for where any of these players rank. It is just a list. This comes from an old school columnist, so please tell me again how bloggers are ruining journalism.

The Story: Roberto Baldoquin comes aboard.
The Monkey Says: This is behind a paywall, one even I don’t have a subscription for. I have no idea what it says, but there isn’t a lot of info on Baldoquin, so I provide this link so you can decide if you want to pony up the cash and take a look for yourself. Also, since you’ve got all this expendable income lying around, could I borrow $50? That would be swell.
