The April 13th, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Angels still not concerned about Weaver, Wilson criticizes Angels for treatment of Hamilton and much more…
The Story: The Angels still aren’t concerned about Jered Weaver after his latest poor start.
The Monkey Says: His velocity was up, but still well down from where it was last season, and his performance was even uglier, but everyone seems confident Jered will work it out. They went through the same thing last season, but at some point Weaver is going to get too old to dig himself out of these holes.
The Story: C.J. Wilson spoke out against the Angels and their treatment of Josh Hamilton.
The Monkey Says: He calls them out on their hypocrisy, something that is obvious to everyone but Angels management. The bigger issue here is Wilson’s concern suggests there is a growing rift between players and management in Anaheim. That’s something the team is going to have to address at some point, especially if the Hamilton saga continues to drag on.
The Story: There is no sign of anything Josh Hamilton-related at Angel Stadium anymore.
The Monkey Says: Literally. They’ve apparently removed all signage featuring him and taken all Hamilton merchandise out of the team store. Yeah, he won’t be playing for the Angels ever again.
The Story: Drew Rucinski has officially been named the starter for Tuesday’s game.
The Monkey Says: Richards couldn’t talk the team into activating him early, apparently. This should be the only start Drew needs to make before Garrett returns to the Halos.
The Story: Kole Calhoun sat out Sunday’s game with a tight calf.
The Monkey Says: He’s fine, the Angels were just playing it safe. Expect him to start tonight.
The Story: Arte Moreno says that the Angels still aren’t negotiating with Anaheim despite the city’s change in lead negotiator.
The Monkey Says: Arte Moreno doesn’t have time for anyone’s bullshit, apparently.
The Story: Johnny Giavotella holds little bitterness towards the Royals.
The Monkey Says: They buried him for years, but he doesn’t hold it against them. Or at least he won’t say it out loud. Besides, he got an American League Championship ring from them and a nice piece of jewelry always helps to settle rifts in a relationship… at least that is what my wife keeps telling me.
The Story: Jose Alvarez is impressing early in his new role.
The Monkey Says: He’s certainly looked pretty solid. Plus, he drilled a bunch of Royals. That made me feel a little bit better about the Halos getting swept.
