The April 15th, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Wilson attacking hitters by working faster, Moreno a ‘craven opportunist’ and much more…

The Story: C.J. Wilson is trying to work faster as part of his plan to attack hitters.
The Monkey Says: And, this is not a joke, to allow him less time to overthink things. The stats do show that he’s working faster, but I actually don’t know that I buy it. The new rules are making everyone work fast, so it could just be a natural side effect of that.

The Story: Arte Moreno is being a craven opportunist not being a savvy businessman.
The Monkey Says: Piling on Moreno is popular right now, but that doesn’t mean it is wrong. The more I think about this, the more I think the issue is that Arte is doing this so publicly. There isn’t an owner out there that wouldn’t at least explore the option of getting out of Hamilton’s contract in this situation. However, I doubt many of them would be so vitriolic and overt about it, which is the big sin here. He’s not just trying to find a loophole in the contract language, it very much seems as if Moreno is trying to intimidate Hamilton into just giving some of the money back. That’s just sleazy.

The Story: Kole Calhoun will not start again until Friday at the earliest.
The Monkey Says: The team is being careful with him, but clearly this injury is more serious than originally believed.

The Story: Garrett Richards will make his first start for the Angels on Sunday.
The Monkey Says: At least I think so, I’m writing this before his rehab start on Tuesday but that start would have to go quite poorly for the Halos to not activate Richards.

The Story: Mike Scioscia is enjoying having two lefties in the bullpen.
The Monkey Says: It is a plus as it gives him more options for when to deploy a lefty. It felt like in the past that Scioscia would hang onto his lefties too long in case they were needed for a more difficult matchup later on. This also almost certainly means it will be Drew Rucinski getting demoted when Richards returns, but that was likely anyway.

The Story: Mike Trout played his 500th game on Monday.
The Monkey Says: As per usual, it was a milestone for Mike in which he became either the youngest person to do something or joined some sort of club that consists almost entirely of all-time greats or both.
