The May 8th, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Butera traded to Royals, Giavotella surprisingly invaluable and much more…

The Story: The Angels traded Drew Butera to Kansas City for infielder Ryan Jackson.
The Monkey Says: The Halos were confident that Butera would be claimed off waivers, so they got what they could and that is a defensive specialist middle infielder. That’s actually not a bad thing to have from a depth standpoint as the only guy that the Halos have like that is Eric Stamets, who can’t seem to stay healthy.

The Story: Johnny Giavotella has become surprisingly invaluable.
The Monkey Says: Which is great. What is less great is that Johnny G. has had to be so invaluable to the Angels thus far. He should just be gravy, but instead has become part of the main course.

The Story: C.J. Wilson has been better but is not satisfied yet.
The Monkey Says: He has been better but it doesn’t seem like anyone has a lot of faith that can maintain it, including C.J. himself though I think he’s just trying to be humble.

The Story: Joe Smith is confident that his numbers will turn around.
The Monkey Says: He can complain about the small sample size, but the fact of the matter is that he’s been off with his command and leaving a lot of pitches over the middle of the plate. That’s fixable, but let’s not be acting as if this is just some statistical fluke.
