The May 12th, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Dipoto knows he will have to make trades, examining Shoemaker’s tough start and much more…

The Story: Jerry Dipoto knows he is going to have to make some trades to help the lineup.
The Monkey Says: But he also knows that the trade market isn’t open yet. He’s undoubtedly laying groundwork for when it does open, but it probably won’t be another month before anything really starts to materialize.

The Story: Determining if Matt Shoemaker’s rough start is a fluke or not.
The Monkey Says: ZiPS still believes in him, but the creator of ZiPS is dubious of that, which probably isn’t a great thing. I don’t think the league has “figured out” Shoemaker though. His real issue is that he just keeps missing over the plate with his fastball. Hopefully that’s something he can correct.

The Story: The Angels have quite the catch in Carlos Perez.
The Monkey Says: He even got the official endorsement of Scioscia for “being able to control a game from behind the plate.” Praise doesn’t get a whole lot higher than that when it comes to Scioscia and a young catcher.

The Story: A potential real estate development next door to the Big A threatens the Angel stadium talks.
The Monkey Says: A master stroke by Mayor Tom Tait to find a developer who would build on the land the Angels want to be given for free. The development would not supplant the stadium, but would make it near impossible for them to coexist. This gives the city some actual leverage now, which I am sure will only drive the two sides even further apart.

The Story: Not being the best makes Mike Trout the best.
The Monkey Says: But isn’t he the best at being the best?
