The May 21st, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Pujols day-to-day with hand bruise, more details on Revere trade talks and much more…

The Story: Albert Pujols is day-to-day with a bruised hand after being hit by a pitch.
The Monkey Says: The Angels dodged a bullet as he didn’t break anything. How many days he is out remains to be seen, but he was probably due for a day off anyway. Still, this makes the Angels lineup even more shallow than it already is as it means they will have to have three of the group of Joyce, Krauss, Cowgill and Cron in the lineup at all times while Pujols is out.

The Story: More details on the trade talks between the Phillies and Angels regarding Ben Revere.
The Monkey Says: They seem to revere Revere. It sounds as if it is something that might actually get done relatively soon, if Ruben Amaro reduces his price. Given Amaro’s history of overvaluing his assets, that may not happen. I don’t particularly like Revere, but anything would help at this point, so if he comes cheap, the Angels should pull the trigger. They just need to make sure it isn’t the only thing they do to try and beef up the lineup.

The Story: The Angels and Dodgers make ideal trade partners.
The Monkey Says: He wouldn’t be the first to suggest a Santiago-Guerrero swap. He also wouldn’t be the first to overlook just how dumb it is to trade for Guerrero who can then make himself a free agent after the season once he is traded. He’d be giving up $10 million, but if he continues to hit close to this well, he’d recoup that several times over on the open market. Trading for half a season of Guerrero is a bad idea.

The Story: Erick Aybar isn’t going to change his approach now that he is batting leadoff again.
The Monkey Says: He was conscripted into the spot a few years ago and messed himself up royally by trying to be more patient. He doesn’t want to see that happen again, so he’s just going to keep doing what he’s always done. That’s a good idea, but it also makes it clear that Dipoto needs to do something so that Calhoun or some other more qualified hitter is able to take over at leadoff before the year is out.

The Story: Mike Scioscia believes developing trust is key for managers.
The Monkey Says: Because every manager in baseball needs to chime in on how they think the Dan Jennings experiment will work in Miami.

The Story: Kaleb Cowart has seen improvement since going back to his old stance.
The Monkey Says: A tiny glimmer of hope for Kaleb. However, he’s still in Class-A ball and still can’t recognize pitches, so his stance isn’t going to solve everything.

The Story: A closer look at the alarms in Matt Joyce’s phone.
The Monkey Says: Matt Joyce is not a well organized person.
