The May 27th, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Harper calls Trout ‘the best player,’ Green called up and much more…

The Story: Bryce Harper said Mike Trout is the best player “hands down.”
The Monkey Says: THERE. YOU HAPPY NOW? Harper just settled this contrived debate for everyone. Now shut the $#*! up about it.

The Story: The Angels called up Grant Green.
The Monkey Says: As expected, he takes C.J. Cron’s roster spot and will likely also help out in the outfield with Collin Cowgill limited. He didn’t start last night, so it appears the plan will be for him to platoon against lefties and maybe grab the odd start at second base.

The Story: Mike Trout is second in All-Star voting for the American League outfield.
The Monkey Says: Apparently Kansas City has discovered how to stuff the ballot box as they lead at five positions, including Lorenzo Cain getting more votes than Trout, which is patently absurd. The only other Angel to appear in the balloting results in Albert Pujols in fifth place for the first base voting.

The Story: Mike Scioscia still believes the offense will improve.
The Monkey Says: The Angels had an 87 wRC+ in April. Thus far in May, they are at 86 wRC+. Yes, they are getting a little bit worse, which is hard to believe. They are at least experimenting with personnel right now and with Joyce and Iannetta showing signs of life, maybe they can get back to league average before too long.

The Story: Jered Weaver is succeeding on pitchability.
The Monkey Says: That is what he’s always done, so it doesn’t explain his turnaround. Sorry, try again.

The Story: Another BP profile on Sean Newcomb.
The Monkey Says: The “potential ace” label getting thrown around makes me happy.

The Story: A New Jersey high schooler is chasing Mike Trout’s home run record.
The Monkey Says: Draft him now! His name isn’t fish-like, but I say go for it. I can’t imagine all the other teams in the Northeast will miss on the kid this time around. They’ve learned their lesson.
