The May 29th, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Cowgill to DL, Marte added to roster, Krauss DFA’d and much more…

The Story: The Angels placed Collin Cowgill on the DL and added Alfredo Marte to the active roster.
The Monkey Says: Cowgill has been dealing with a sprained wrist, but it doesn’t sound as if the injury is major enough for him to miss much time. He might just miss the minimum 15 days. Marte is a bat-first outfielder whose been red hot for the Bees. He isn’t a big upside guy but he does have some pop on his bat.

The Story: Marc Krauss was designated for assignment.
The Monkey Says: He had options left, but they needed a roster spot for Marte. Seeing how poorly Krauss has performed in every single stint in the majors he’s ever had, he seems highly likely to pass through waivers and stick with the Angels in the minors.

The Story: Mike Trout is enjoying Bryce Harper’s success from afar.
The Monkey Says: Just in case you were wondering about them having a rivalry, they don’t. They have both said complimentary things about each other this week. There is no rivalry no matter how much the media tries to manufacture one.

The Story: Where are all the All-Star votes from Angels fans?
The Monkey Says: I’d worry less about the Angels not orchestrating a ballot box stuffing effort and worry more about the Angels not being able to get fans to attend games. The attendance numbers are only getting worse.

The Story: A look at the aging curves of phenom players.
The Monkey Says: I’m not at all surprised that their plateaus last longer. I think it “phenoms” aren’t just more advanced physically at an early age but also have more innate talent and skill that would actually combat any physical decline.

The Story: A prospect update on Sean Newcomb after his recent poor outing.
The Monkey Says: I guess I shouldn’t have been so excited about the “ace” label getting thrown around. My bad, everyone.

The Story: Sherman Johnson is now one of Fangraphs’ five most compelling fringe prospects.
The Monkey Says: Hey, no fair. He was one of my top fringe prospects first. Granted, I stole the whole fringe prospect idea from Fangraphs in order to do that, but I feel aggrieved nonetheless.

The Story: Scouting director Ric Wilson discusses the upcoming draft and the farm system.
The Monkey Says: The team generally seems to think it is harder to develop position players, so it isn’t a guarantee that they will target those players early in the draft despite the obvious need.

The Story: A food guide to Angel Stadium.
The Monkey Says: This is a very comprehensive guide of what appears to be almost entirely “meh” food.
