The June 3rd, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Pujols says Angels aren’t the ‘Mike Trout show’, Dipoto discusses reliever usage and much more…

The Story: Albert Pujols says the Angels are more than the “Mike Trout show.”
The Monkey Says: People are trying to twist this to be some kind of display of jealousy from Pujols, but my reading of it seems to be more Pujols responding to questions about how many times Trout has been intentionally walked in front of him.

The Story: Jerry Dipoto discusses his thoughts on bullpen roles.
The Monkey Says: He basically punts on the question by saying that he believes the logic that ideally your best pitcher pitches in the most high leverage situations, but that you also can’t really do that because those situations are unpredictable. I guess he’s suggesting that they can’t be warmed up in time when things get high leverage over the course of two batters. That is a valid point, but there are plenty of better ways to utilize your top relievers more intelligently than just pinning the role to what inning they are in.

The Story: Visualizing the best first basemen.
The Monkey Says: Read this if you want to feel bad about how much money the Angels still owe Albert Pujols.

The Story: Mike Trout and Bryce Harper are still by themselves.
The Monkey Says: There will be no forcing a third player into this comparison. Not Puig. Not Machado. Not Pederson. Not Bryant. You know, I’m thinking maybe we should just stop forcing all comparisons.

The Story: Angels fans in right field will dub the section “The Calzone” in honor of Kole Calhoun.
The Monkey Says: That is just the worst. Most fan section names are dumb, but that one makes no sense given Calhoun’s obvious lack of Italian heritage. It is also clearly inferior to other options like The Kole Mine or Calhounifornia.

The Story: Check out Mike Trout in a ridiculous wig in this BODYARMOR ad.
The Monkey Says: Or don’t. It is a commercial, so I’m not really all that into giving them more views.
