The Angels offense went big on Friday, but it went even bigger on Saturday with the Angels putting on their own fireworks show for Fourth of July at the Rangers expense. Maybe it was the release of tension from the internal battle for power within the franchise, maybe it was facing a hated rival or maybe it was just anger at having to wear those dopey star-spangled uniforms, but all of the sudden the Angels lineup is exploding.

Cron. It took half a season, but he finally started hitting like the Angels have desperately needed him to. Of course, everyone else in the lineup hit pretty well, save for Matt Joyce and Taylor Featherston who combined for three strikeouts in three PAs off the bench. Dan Robertson had two hits, but somehow ended up with a negative RE24, but I’m sure he won’t mind.

It was his second-best start of the year according to game score and probably enough to earn him an All-Star nod… probably. Wandy Rodriguez at least managed to go five innings, but he really had to fight to even get that far.

Bullpen Battle

Spencer Patton and Ross Detwiler basically threw batting practice for the Angel hitters.

I guess that brief stint in Triple-A helped, after all.
