The July 7th, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Pujols picked as All-Star, Santiago snubbed, Angels tried to trade for Reddick and much more…

The Story: Albert Pujols was the only Angel picked as an All-Star reserve.
The Monkey Says: He was a mortal lock for the team and has already been named the starter at first base now that Miguel Cabrera is hurt. However, Hector Santiago was snubbed, in something of a surprise. The All-Star rosters go crazy on relievers now that the game “counts,” so Santiago got squeezed out. Huston Street arguably had a case due to his save total, but I think you’d be hard pressed to argue that he is anymore deserving than the relievers that did make the team. If anything, I’m impressed that they didn’t kowtow to the save stat. Santiago could still make the team once the guys start dropping out due to injury or because they started the final game before the break.

The Story: The Angels tried to trade for Josh Reddick.
The Monkey Says: They even tried getting Boston involved as a facilitator. However, it never happened and it was all before Dipoto resigned, so where this stands now is anyone’s guess. Reddick strikes me as a very Dipoto-type player, so if Scioscia is calling the shots now, they may not even revisit this deal.

The Story: The Angels front office shenanigans headline This Week in Dumb Baseball.
The Monkey Says: Just another in a long line of writers throwing shade at Arte Moreno.

The Story: Sean Newcomb is one to watch for BP’s top 101.
The Monkey Says: They just announced their mid-season top 50 and there were no Angels on it. Newcomb is a guy they clearly like quite a bit though.
