Boxscore Breakdown #85: Hail to the King – Mariners 7, Angels 2

The Angels have been really good lately. Unfortunately for them, Felix Hernandez has been even better pretty much since he was conceived. As a result, the Angels winning streak is no more. There’s no shame in that though, he’s the king.

Cron continued to hit. I’m still not buying it, but good for him. Kole Calhoun and Erick Aybar stayed hot as well, but everyone else stunk. For the second straight game, Efren Navarro failed hard as a pinch-hitter in a big spot. That’s not really his fault because pinch-hitting is hard, but still.

Mark Trumbo had the finest performance as he decided to stop sucking and haunt the Halos instead. That wasn’t terribly nice of him.

Walks are one thing for Garrett, but he is almost never this hittable, but he got smacked around pretty good, and by the Mariners, no less. Felix was stellar, like he do.

Bullpen Battle

Jose Alvarez looked like he wasn’t ready for anything. The Mariners bullpen sprung a leak, but because of Morin and Alvarez, there was no comeback to be had.
