The July 21st, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Angels use helicopter to dry field, Angels still looking to trade for a bat and much more…

The Story: The Angels used a police helicopter to dry their field before yesterdays’ doubleheader.
The Monkey Says: This is the kind of weird idea that seems like it was suggested by a five-year old, making his dad laugh for three second before he stopped cold and said, “You know, that just might work.” And it did work! It also probably cost taxpayers a few thousand bucks.

The Story: The Angels remain hopeful of landing a better hitting left fielder.
The Monkey Says: In other words, nothing is happening on the trade market… still. The Angels are trying, but other teams are asking too much or the Angels are being cheap or both.

The Story: The Angels are one of four teams to watch in the second half.
The Monkey Says: Why? Because of morbid interest of how they hold it together in the wake of the front office turmoil. I’d prefer the Angels watch the baseball because they are good, not because they are a sideshow.

The Story: Cory Rasmus was called up for yesterday’s doubleheader.
The Monkey Says: He was sent down again after the game. He was just the extra player you are allowed to add during a doubleheader. The Angels still want Rasmus to get stretched out to 60+ pitches, so he won’t be joining the club full-time for a few weeks yet.

The Story: Fangraphs says Albert Pujols has the fifth-lowest trade value in baseball.
The Monkey Says: Old and expensive is a bad combination, even if he is producing again.

The Story: A statistical comparison of Mike Trout and Mickey Mantle.
The Monkey Says: Yep, comparing basic counting stats across completely different eras is surely a fair and accurate way to contrast the two players.

The Story: The Angels need to promote Sean Newcomb.
The Monkey Says: He needs to work on his command, but his stuff is so good that he is annihilating the California League hitters. I can’t really argue with that.
