Doubleheaders are fun, they are even more fun when your team wins both games. They are even more fun than that when sweeping the doubleheader also means sweeping the series. They are even more fun than that when the team getting swept is the Red Sox. I guess what I’m saying is that this doubleheader was fun.
Angels 7, Red Sox 3

The second game featured plenty of offense for the Angels as well, but it was largely concentrated in the bats of Albert Pujols and Erick Aybar. Frankly, I’m just amazed that they scored seven runs despite having the increased degree of difficulty of starting both Matt Joyce and Dan Robertson as well as starting Carlos Perez and Taylor Featherston over Iannetta and Freese, respectively.

The Andrew Heaney description is already getting repetitive. He was very good and very efficient. He did finally make a mistake with the homer, but he was cruising throughout the rest of the game. Steven Wright did not cruise but I’m going to spare you the obvious Steven Wrong pun.

This is a misleading chart because Trevor Gott was quite shaky. Joe Smith had to save his bacon and picked up an actual save for his trouble. The Red Sox pen allowed the second Pujols dinger, but kept the game from getting out of hand.

That escalated a little less quickly.

I think it is safe to say that the Home Run Derby did not mess up Albert’s swing.
