The August 4th, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Trout named AL Player of the Month, Heaney named AL Rookie of the Month and much more…

The Story: Mike Trout was named the AL Player of the Month for July.
The Monkey Says: He even missed two games! This was the second straight month in which an Angel won the award. I’m sure that makes you feel much better about the Angels’ recent losing streak.

The Story: Andrew Heaney was named AL Rookie of the Month for July.
The Monkey Says: Heaney is making a late push for Rookie of the Year consideration, but he’s fighting an uphill battle with Carlos Correa currently leading the pack.

The Story: Nick Tropeano was a healthy scratch from his scheduled start last night.
The Monkey Says: This pretty much confirms that he will be slotting into C.J. Wilson’s rotation spot until Jered Weaver is ready, which might only mean one Nick making one start.

The Story: The Angels called up Cam Bedrosian and announced that Vinnie Pestano cleared waivers.
The Monkey Says: Bedrosian will only be up for a few days before he heads out to make room for Tropeano, but he figures to get into a game or two and could use that to make an impression on the coaches in hopes of earning more of a role in September. Pestano gets to hang out in Salt Lake for another month or so, but we probably won’t actually be seeing him on the big league roster anytime soon.

The Story: Hey, Angels, stop questioning C.J. Wilson’s toughness.
The Monkey Says: Yeah, this is a stupid situation. I don’t know why other players are on his back about this especially since him pitching through the injury probably means him pitching poorly. The only thing that sticks out to me is that the players might be skeptical of his need for surgery since Wilson sought out outside doctors to come to this decision. For what it is worth, C.J. claims nobody has expressed this sentiment to him personally.

The Story: Scioscia is confident the Angels will turn things around.
The Monkey Says: This is a run-of-the-mill story, but it gives us perhaps the greatest Socialism phrase ever. “Don’t confuse being able to turn the page with taking things in stride.” What does that even mean?

The Story: Grading all 58 prospects dealt at the trade deadline.
The Monkey Says: Both of the Angel prospects that got moved get lumped into the 35+ FV section that didn’t even merit an individual write-up.
