Worst Boxscore Breakdown headline ever? Worst Boxscore Breakdown headline ever. Hey, I’ve got a good excuse though because Mike Trout went nuts on his birthday… again. I realize it is nothing but pure coincidence, but you have to admit, if there is one guy alive capable of just locking in and have a big day because it is his birthday, it’s Michael Nelson Trout. He got plenty of help in this game, but a homer, a single and two walks is a pretty good birthday.
Angels 8, Orioles 4

Hey, look, David DeJesus and David Murphy both had clutch hits. Now everyone that is hating on the trades after a week and a half can maybe cram it with walnuts for a little while. C.J. Cron actually outperformed Trout on his name day and he only needed one swing of the bat to do it, but wow, what a swing. That gargantuan bomb supposedly went 448 feet, which feels like an underestimate because there is no way that thing went less than 460.

Andrew Heaney had his first legitimately bad outing as an Angel and it probably isn’t a coincidence that it was against a lineup that started just two guys hitting from the left side of the plate. Fortunately for Heaney, Kevin Gausman was even worse.

I’m told that Fernando Salas came into this game in a high leverage RISP situation and bailed the Angels out, but I didn’t actually see it as I was cowering underneath my bed the entire time. The Orioles bullpen is normally pretty strong, but that homer Bach surrendered to Cron sullied their reputation.

The Halos were in trouble a few times, but once Cron launched that ball into the atmosphere, the Angels had wrapped up a nice little birthday gift for Mr. Trout.
