Boxscore Breakdown #110: Murphy’s big day – Angels 5, Orioles 4

It finally happened, one of the new Angel outfielders finally did something good! David Murphy made up for all of the nothing that DeJesus and Victorino have been doing by legitimately carrying the Angels to a victory. He’s now already done more good for the Halos than Matt Joyce ever did.

Johnny Giavotella was pretty solid too, right up until the point where Scioscia stupidly asked him to bunt and then he took it upon himself to bunt with an 0-2 count.

Conversely, Adam Jones had a lousy day with the bat, but he chase down quite a few balls in the outfield that looked like they were going to be trouble.

He limited hits, he didn’t walk anyone and even generated 18 swinging strikes. Miguel Gonzalez finally didn’t steamroll the Angels like he usually does. It actually felt like the Halos should’ve done more damage against him, but beggars can’t be choosers.

Murphy spoiled a good chance to win the whole thing in the ninth inning but he totally redeemed himself in the eleventh.

Murphy’s walk-off hit bought, what, a whole two days of people not complaining about the deadline deals?
