Boxscore Breakdown #111: Full Sale – White Sox 8, Angels 2

When you’re facing Chris Sale, you really just need to hope that your starting pitcher can keep the game close and that your offense can scratch a run or two off Sale, run up his pitch count and take advantage of the bullpen. Matt Shoemaker failed at the first part of that and the offense failed at the latter two. In other words, everything went according to plan.

On sheer entertainment factor, this game was a win for the fans. Yep, that one five minute chunk totally canceled out the other two hours and forty minutes of the Halos playing terribly. But, hey, at least Shane Victorino got a triple, so there was that, too.

Avisail Garcia‘s season has been disappointing due to his lack of power yet he jacked two longballs. Tyler Flowers is a joke in general and he went deep as well. How about we all just pretend that the three dingers were hit by Jose Abreu instead?

I had to point out in the power rankings how Shoemaker had gone three straight starts without allowing a homer.

By the time they finally got around to plating a few runs, the game was already decided.

Maybe we need to threaten to move Shoemaker to the bullpen again. He seemed to pitch a lot better during the period where his grip on a rotation spot was in jeopardy.
