Boxscore Breakdown #115: That makes sense – Royals 4, Angels 1

Just in case you thought the Angels had turned a corner after their huge comeback against the vaunted Royals bullpen, I present you with this clunker. It had all the earmarks of the same slumping Angels only they mixed in shoddy defense and moronic baserunning, just to up the ante. Honestly, nobody really thought their fortunes were going to change because of just one game, but it would’ve made some sense for them to at least keep showing progress. This, whatever this was, was not progress.

Run Expectancy Rundown

I’m just saying when getting hit by a pitch is the best way the team has for generating offense, that’s kind of a problem. The best way to kill any offense for the Angels right now is to have Albert Pujols bat, especially with the bases loaded. Woof. Oh, and just letting the Angels run the bases in general. This was some prime TOOTBLANaheim.

They did, however, take advantage of Jered Weaver and the Angels defense in one inning and that was all they needed.

Starting Pitcher Scores

Danny Duffy didn’t look good, but it didn’t matter because the Angels can’t hit anything right now.

Bullpen Battle

He probably shouldn’t pitch for awhile. For KC, Ryan Madson tried to throw the Angels a bone and let them back in the game, but they turned their nose up at his gift. I appreciate the gesture from Ryan though, it is the least he could do after taking the Angels’ money and never pitching for them.

Game Flow

Coyote after he runs off a cliff, looks down and realizes that gravity exists.
