Oh? So we’re doing this again. I thought we got past the whole “Shoemaker turned into a pumpkin” phase, yet here we are again with Shoe turning in the worst start of his career at an inopportune time. Granted, the Angels probably weren’t going to beat Johnny Cueto anyway, but having another concern in the rotation is the last thing the Angels need. In fact, Shoemaker just got demoted to Triple-A today, so apparently things are worse than we thought. Ain’t life just grand?

Run Expectancy Rundown

David Murphy had two hits. Carlos Perez had two hits. Even Shane Victorino and David DeJesus had hits. Still, all it amounted to was four runs, three of which came in garbage time.

Only two Royals didn’t reach base multiple times, Alex Rios, who is terrible but did walk once and Alcides Escobar, who is overrated and didn’t reach base at all.

Bullpen Battle
[googleapps domain=”docs” dir=”spreadsheets/d/19FDRFWyxDccBzUnPNihyJQzTcUnopgs6c3zfCdAUUDg/pubchart” query=”oid=1141913419&format=interactive” width=”620″ height=”315″ /] The only real takeaway from this for the bullpen is that it got taxed once again, an increasing concern for the Angels who have now demoted one starter, shuffled the back of the bullpen but also lack an upcoming off day. This crew might be on fumes by the time reinforcements arrive in September.
