The April 21, 2016 edition of Los Angeles Angels news includes the rotation being set for the Mariners series, Curt Schilling finally getting the axe from the Worldwide Leader, and more…

The Story: No changes to rotation for M’s series

MWAH Says: The Angels are sticking with the same rotation order for this weekend, which means Nick Tropeano has to take on Felix Hernandez in the opener. Hector Santiago and Matt Shoemaker will take the latter two games against Hisashi Iwakuma and Wade Miley, respectively.

The Story: ESPN fires Curt Schilling following discriminatory Facebook post

MWAH Says: Andrew nailed this one in our preseason predictions. The garbage Facebook memes really were just too omnipresent for Curt Schilling to resist. It floors me that he couldn’t stop posting the same hateful stuff time and again, despite previous warnings. Almost like he was trying to get fired.

The Story: Tyler Skaggs throws 3⅔ innings for Triple-A Salt Lake

MWAH Says: Not the best outing for Skaggs—three runs on two hits and three walks—but another step in the right direction. He got up to 67 pitches on the night, which is a new high for him. A few more starts and he should be ready for Anaheim.

The Story: Seven minor league prospects you’ll be rooting for this season

MWAH Says: The guys at Cespedes Family BBQ are big on Kaleb Cowart, who’s not off to the greatest start this year but is still riding high from his career renaissance in 2015. Hope he can keep it up.

The Story: Slow start becoming a trend for Angels

MWAH Says: I don’t know if three seasons is really large enough to be termed a trend, but it is certainly annoying that the offense has sputtered to a start of late. I’ve been meaning to look into whether slow starts generally lead to underwhelming finishes, or if strong springs lead to weak Aprils, but just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

The Story: Hector Santiago helping raise money for children’s health charity

MWAH Says: Santiago is selling men’s and women’s “K Cancer” shirts at his online store, with 25 percent ($8) of each sale going to Friend’s of Karen.
