The lesson? Just hand the ball to the official
Chaz Powell had a key kick return in the second half of Penn State’s 23-18 win against Purdue over the weekend, returning the ball just yards away from a touchdown after Purdue had cut the lead to two points. Powell flipped the ball up over his head as he got up after the return. Powell said he was more concerned about his knee (it’s fine) but the side judge threw a flag saying that Powell had acted in excessive manner.
Defensive coordinator Tom Bradley and Powell addressed the penalty after the game.
