Time once again to take a Heisman pulse with this week’s Bloguin Heisman Poll. Not much No change this week in the ordering, although I do feel the gap between the players is starting to close a bit at the top. Unfortunately we bid farewell to one of our favorite running backs, South Carolina’s Marcus Lattimore. Lattimore is done for the season due to injury.
The guys from College Football Zealots continue to manage the Bloguin Heisman Poll, which is being hosted over on Crystal Ball Run.
1. QB Andrew Luck, Stanford
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Andrew Luck is the player to beat this year for the Heisman, but the competition may be catching up. That’s why it is a god thing Luck put on a show against Washington State, completing 23 of his 36 passes for 336 yards and four touchdowns in Stanford’s latest win. He was intercepted once but it was just the third interception thrown this season.
2. QB Russell Wilson, Wisconsin

Wilson did not light up the stat sheet against Indiana but that is more because he was not needed to have a full work load against the hapless Hoosiers (but keep in mind Wisconsin put up 50+ points against a team Penn State struggled with for four quarters). Wilson threw one touchdown pass and caught another in the latest attempt to get a quarterback some Heisman footage to chew on for the voters. It happens every year. I’m sure we’ll see Moore catch a pass before the end of the season too.
3. QB Kellen Moore, Boise State
Speaking of Moore, you can rip his level of competition all you like, but there is no denying that he is one of the most accurate passers in the game. What he did against Colorado State was uncanny, completing 26 of 30 pass attempts for 338 yards and four touchdowns. If you want to compare passing numbers between these three players, Moore has the higher completion percentage, more passing yards and more touchdown passes than Luck and Wilson. where Moore falls behind is the fact that A) he plays for Boise State so Luck and Wilson have bigger games to showcase their talents, and B) Wilson and Luck are slightly, even if just marginally, more mobile. Moore has -11 rushing yards this season.
Done: RB Marcus Lattimore (South Carolina)
On the Radar: RB Trent Richardson (Alabama), QB Robert Griffin III (Baylor), QB Case Keenum (Houston), QB Brandon Weeden (Oklahoma State), WR Justin Blackmon (Oklahoma State)
