This week I placed a new name on the top of my ballot, and I’ll admit I probably got a little too wrapped up in the numbers this week. Boise State’s Kellen Moore, in my mind, is a legitimate candidate for the Heisman Trophy (he’s actually second on my Detmer Award Ballot this week on No 2-Minute Warning) and I am not one who is going to begrudge him for his level of competition as much as some others. I don’t care who he is playing, what Moore is doing on the field is nothing short of remarkable.
The guys from College Football Zealots continue to manage the Bloguin Heisman Poll, which is being hosted over on Crystal Ball Run.
1. QB Kellen Moore, Boise State

I have had Kellen Moore all over my Heisman ballot this season but based on last weekend’s performances I find it difficult to have Moore sitting behind the usual names. Moore has passed for over 2,000 yards and thrown 24 touchdowns while completing 76.3% of his passes this season. Those are clearly better numbers than guys like Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson and even a guy like Robert Griffin III for the most part (RGIII has a higher completion percentage, 78%). Moore’s rushing numbers will fall well behind those of Luck and Wilson though.
Against Air Force Moore passed for 281 yards and three touchdowns, completing 79.3% of his passes.
Next up for Moore and Boise State is a road game at UNLV after a bye week this week. Expect more big numbers from Moore when the Broncos are back on the field.
2. QB Andrew Luck, Stanford
Luck did not post great numbers in Stanford’s rout of Washington, which is why he slips a spot in my Bloguin Heisman ballot. Luck had 169 yards and two touchdowns and now has 1,888 passing yards, 20 touchdowns and has been intercepted just three times.
This week Stanford travels to Los Angeles to take on the USC Trojans, who are looking to play spoiler in the Pac 12 this season. The Trojans are coming off a road win at Notre Dame and ESPN Game Day will be in town for this one. Can Luck and the Cardinal avoid an upset and keep their BCS championship plans in order?
3. QB Russell Wilson, Wisconsin
Wisconsin’s rising star this season had some highs and lows against Michigan State as the Spartans handed the Badgers their first loss of the season with a legendary moment. As for Wilson, he and the Badgers got off to a quick start and came up with some heroics late in the game to tie things up. Wilson was intercepted twice but he also threw for 223 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and added 30 yards and another touchdown on the ground.
Wisconsin travels to Columbus this weekend to take on Ohio State. If the Buckeyes can somehow pick up a win against a Wisconsin tea I still feel is the team to beat in the Big Ten, then that could really help Penn State out heading in to the bye week.
