Penn State offensive guard Johnnie Troutman was selected by the San Diego Chargers in the fifth round of the 2012 NFL Draft.
The 6′-4″ 325 pound offensive lineman may not be one of the top linemen in the NFL Draft this year but many draft analysts predict a bright future for Troutman, who will fly under the radar around the league but put together a stable career as a quality blocker wherever he plays.
Troutman is the second Penn State player to be drafted in the NFL Draft this year. Defensive tackle Devon still was taken late in round two Friday night by the Cincinnati Bengals.
Penn State center Stefen Wisniewski was drafted in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders but the last offensive guard to be drafted out of Penn State was Rich Ohrnberger. Ohrnberger was drafted in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots.
