For the past year, many of you have enjoyed excerpts from my book Ring The Bell: The Twenty-two Greatest Penn State Football Victories of Our Lives here at the Nittany Lions Den. The “Games of Our Lives” series started with Penn State’s first Fiesta Bowl win in the seventies and stretched all the way to last November’s reprieve against Ohio State. Now, the book–filled with all twenty-two complete stories–is avaialable in paperback and on ebook readers. Check out the book’s page on Amazon or my author’s page for more about my writing career.
I have to admit, the timing of the book’s release is bittersweet. While much of Penn State’s past has been celebratory and positive (which is the overall tone of Ring The Bell), these past weeks and months have been some of the darkest possible. Rather than welcoming this new book with excitement, many of you are probably are trying to find a way to distance yourself emotionally and mentally from the whole ordeal.
However, I’d encourage everyone to remember the larger perspective of our proud program’s history. This may be a scar that never disappears, but it can be a wound that heals, making way for new lasting memories. This is my prayer for those who are a positive part of the Penn State community and who also enjoy watching our Nittany Lions on the gridiron.
