Penn State picked up its first 2014 class member Monday night when Dematha running back Mark Allen verbally committed to the Nittany Lions.
Allen is a 5-7, 185 pound junior running back that reportedly runs a 4.4 40-yard dash. Through seven games this season, Allen has rushed for 682 yards and four touchdowns on 101 carries. He has also caught six passes for 77 yards.
He has rushed for over 100 yards in three games including a season-high 152 yards in the season opener.
Allen is not ranked by any of the major recruiting services (Rivals, 247Sports or Scout) but did attend Penn State’s summer camp.
Maryland also offered the DeMatha back and North Carolina also showed interest.
