Penn State adds 2015 game vs San Diego State

Penn State has added a 2015 home game against San Diego State, according to Brett McMurphy of ESPN.com (via Twitter). According to Penn State’s official website, the game in Beaver Stadium will be scheduled for September 26, 2015, a week after hosting Big Ten East rival Rutgers.

Penn State has one more game to fill the 2015 season with open dates on October 3 and November 14 (built in conference bye week). Unfortunately, there is no talk of a return trip.

This will mark the first game played between the two schools and will mark the first time Penn State has faced off against a member of the Mountain West Conference during the conference’s lifespan. The last time Penn State played a member currently in the MWC was in 1977 against Utah State. Penn State is 4-0 all-time against current MWC programs.

Expect Penn State to schedule one more home game for 2015 for that vacant spot in October. The Nittany Lions play a road game at Temple to open the year and play Maryland in Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium.
