This week over on The Student Section marks the first release of the Bloguin Heisman Poll. The Bloguin Heisman Poll has been around for a couple of years now, but this is the first time it has been posted on The Student Section. As a member of the Bloguin community, both here at Nittany Lions Den and as a contributor to The Student Section, I am participating in this season’s weekly poll.
As I am doing with my weekly power ranking for Athlon Sports on No 2-Minute Warning, I felt making my Heisman poll voting public as well. So here are my top three Heisman Trophy candidates in this week’s poll. And here is this week’s poll.
1. Dak Prescott, Mississippi State Quarterback
I am not sure Dak Prescott is the bets player in college football, but I do feel confident in suggesting no player has been as valuable or vital to his team’s success at this point in the season as Prescott. No other quarterback has led his team to two top-10 victories. His numbers may not compare to some other quarterbacks out there, but Prescott has been tremendous so far this season.
2. Todd Gurley, Georgia Running Back
Gurley is likely going to move back into my top spot very soon. No disrespect intended for Nebraska’s Ameer Abdullah or Wisconsin’s Melvin Gordon, but Georgia’s Gurley is just a beast. Here’s hoping he just stays healthy.
3. Amari Cooper, Alabama Wide Receiver
I think Cooper is the best wide receiver in the country, but the third spot in my poll is completely up for grabs. I suspect it is going to be changing on a weekly basis for a while.
