The narrative was certainly right there for the taking. Penn State kicker Sam Ficken, a team captain who has seen his fair share of ups and downs during his time in a Penn State uniform, was given the locker of New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter for the 2014 Pinstripe Bowl. He scored Penn State’s game-winning extra point in overtime victory against Boston College. A walk-off win for the Nittany Lions to wrap up the career of Ficken was somewhat fitting because the last game Jeter played in Yankee Stadium also happened to be a walk-off (with perfect Big Ten product placement, if you recall).
