I am already eager to see what Herb Hand will tweet next.

Penn State added recruit No. 23 to the Class of 2015 by flexing some in-state muscle. Tight end Nick Bowers has switched his verbal commit from Pittsburgh to Penn State. Both Rivals and 247 Sports reported the recruiting update shortly after a signature commitment tweet was shared by James Franklin (when he was not cracking down on exam grades). Bowers is rated three stars by Rivals and is a three-star player on the 247 Sports composite rankings as well. 247 ranks Bowers as the 13th top recruit in the state of Pennsylvania, giving Penn State nine of the top 15 players in Pennsylvania in this most recent recruiting class.

Bowers had committed to Pittsburgh last January, but Bowers kept in touch with Penn State. Bowers attended a summer camp at Penn State in July and followed that up with an unofficial visit in October for the Ohio State game. This month Bowers took official visits to both schools, first at Pitt on January 16 and this past weekend to Penn State.

Bowers is the 23rd commitment in Penn State’s Class of 2015. This gives Penn State two more scholarships to fill with National Signing Day coming up next week.
