Although she has yet to play a game at the professional level, Florida State forward Natasha Howard takes home Professio”Nole” Athlete of the Week for the week of April 14th through the 20th. In Monday’s WNBA Draft, Howard became the highest Seminole ever taken as she was selected fifth overall by the Indiana Fever.
Howard led the Seminoles last season by averaging 20.5 points-per-game and better than nine rebounds as Florida State reached the second round of the Women’s NCAA Tournament.
The 6’3″ forward set a new school-record for points in a single contest, going for 40 in a rout of Syracuse back in mid-February. Howard finished her FSU career with 41 double-doubles — also a school-record.
Howard should make her professional debut on May 16th in Chicago as the Fever kick off their 2014 campaign.
