It was a great week for Florida State players in the pros. Buster Posey of the San Francisco Giants hit .409 this week while former FSU basketball players Toney Douglas and Chris Singleton each saw their NBA teams advance, albeit in very minor roles. The Professio”Nole” Athlete of the Week for the week of April 28th through May 4th however, comes from the Arena Football League.
Late Saturday night, Orlando Predators’ and former Florida State wide receiver Greg Carr recorded 11 catches for 143 yards — both game-highs — and scored three of Orlando’s five touchdowns in a 70-35 loss to the San Jose Sabercats. In the last two weeks, Carr has come down with eight touchdown grabs and leads the Arena League with 21 touchdown receptions on the year.
Finding the end zone is nothing new to Carr. Over his four years at Florida State, the 6’6″ Quincy product accounted for 29 receiving touchdowns. In addition to leading the AFL in touchdown catches, Carr ranks sixth in the league in total receptions and third in receiving yards. Carr and the Predators will have next week off before visiting the Jacksonville Sharks on May 17th.
