For the second time this season, the Professio”Nole” Athlete of the Week award will go to a football player from the Arena Football League and for the season time this season, that player is wide receiver Greg Carr. Carr is the top Florida State professional athlete for the week of May 19th through the 25th just as he was for the week of April 28th through May 4th.
Despite a 62-61 heartbreaking loss to the Pittsburgh Power on Saturday, the 6’6″ Carr shined bright for the Orlando Predators. Carr finished with seven catches for 113 yards receiving and three touchdowns — all team-highs. Carr’s 45-yard touchdown grab with 3:43 remaining gave Orlando a 61-55 lead before the Power answered with a second remaining to pull off the dramatic victory.
On the season, Carr ranks third in the AFL both in terms of yardage and receiving touchdowns while the Predators lead the league in total offense. Carr and Orlando are 6-4 on the season and will be back in action on Saturday against the Iowa Barnstormers.
