After going 2-1 in the ACC Tournament in Greensboro, Florida State was named one of 16 NCAA Tournament regional hosts on Sunday night. On Monday afternoon, the Seminoles were awarded the fifth national seed following a 43-15 finish to the regular season and conference tournament.
Earning the national seed means that FSU will be a host for not only the regional round, but for a Super Regional should it advance. The Seminoles are hosting a regional for a fourth straight season and have won 19 straight regional contests. Florida State has not failed to advance to the Super Regionals since falling to Mississippi State in 2007.
The Tallahassee Regional will be a four-team, double-elimination bracket that begins on Friday. FSU will kick off the NCAA Tournament against the regional’s fourth-seed, Georgia Southern. The Seminoles and Eagles will be also be joined in Tallahassee by second-seeded Alabama and third-seed Kennesaw State. The Seminoles have now been awarded a national seed 10 times, more than any other school.
