Game Balls: FSU-The Citadel

steelers-blue

Top-ranked Florida State defeated The Citadel 37-12 on Saturday night, recording their school-record 18th straight victory. With that, the Noled Out staff hands out their Week 2 game balls:

Offense
Mike Ferguson & Jon Marchant’s Game Ball: Jameis Winston, QB

The unanimous game ball on offense goes to Jameis Winston who spread the ball around and efficiently guided the Seminole offensive attack. 10 different ‘Noles recorded a catch as Florida State scored touchdowns on each of its first four possessions. Winston finished 22-for-27 passing for 256 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions.

Defense
Mike Ferguson’s Game Ball: Jalen Ramsey, S

Florida State sophomore safety Jalen Ramsey gets the game ball here as he was crucial in run defense, coming up to make several tackles and limiting The Citadel offense from doing much all night. Ramsey finished behind only Reggie Northrup for the team lead with eight total tackles and added a game-high two tackles for loss.

Jon Marchant’s Game Ball: The Defense
The Seminole defense gave up 250 rushing yards to The Citadel and as such the entire defense earned an anti-game ball.

Special Teams
Mike Ferguson’s Game Ball: Roberto Aguayo, K

Florida State’s Roberto Aguayo was 3-for-3 on field goals with a long of 27 and 4-for-4 on extra points for a total of 13 points all by himself. All eight of Aguayo’s kickoffs went for touchbacks.

Jon Marchant’s Game Ball: Cason Beatty, P
I have to give my game ball to Cason Beatty; the much-maligned FSU punter actually recorded a punt of 40 yards, which has to be a season if not career-long. In all seriousness, it was a season-long.
