The Florida State soccer team now sits one win away from the school’s first national championship following a 2-0 victory over Stanford in the semifinals of the College Cup on Friday night in Boca Raton.

The FSU defense was stellar as the Cardinal managed just seven shots on goal. Cheyna Williams scored both Florida State goals in the victory. She found the back of the net in the 16th minute to get the scoring started and cemented the victory with a second goal in the 87th minute.

Florida State goalkeeper Cassie Miller recorded a pair of saves in the victory as the Seminoles’ freshman goaltender recorded her 18th shutout of the year. FSU has yet to allow a goal in the NCAA Tournament.

With the national championship on the line, the Seminoles will face Virginia on Sunday at 1:00 P.M. eastern time. The Cavaliers began the night with a 3-1 victory over Texas A&M. Florida State beat Virginia 1-0 for the ACC title on November 9th.

Florida State will be participating in the national championship game for a second season in a row. The ‘Noles fell to UCLA in overtime in last season’s title game.
