The 2014-15 men’s basketball season for Florida State is just eight games old, but through the early parts of the season, there is no doubt as to which Seminole has made the biggest strides since last season. For the second time in three weeks, junior slasher Montay Brandon is the Florida State Basketball Player of the Week.

Brandon earns the honors for the week of December 1st through the 7th after averaging 16 points, 5 rebounds and 1.5 steals in home games against Nebraska and UCF.

Brandon finished with just nine points and four rebounds in Monday’s 70-65 loss to Nebraska in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, but followed that up with the best game of his career. In a dominating 96-73 victory for Florida State over UCF on Saturday, Brandon scored a career-high 23 points on 10-for-12 shooting from the field and grabbed a game-high 6 rebounds.

Early on this season, Brandon leads the Seminoles in field goal percentage, rebounding and minutes. Brandon is shooting 65 percent from the floor and grabbing 6.4 rebounds-per-game in more than 32 minutes. Brandon ranks second for FSU in scoring and steals with 13.4 points and 1.1 steals-per-game.
