It was a solid week for Florida State basketball as the Seminoles put together back-to-back victories over North Florida and South Florida. Over those two games, no player shined brighter than the lone scholarship senior for Florida State — center Kiel Turpin.

Tupin is the Florida State Basketball Player of the Week for the week of December 15th through the 21st after averaging 16 points, 4.5 rebounds and a block over the two contests while shooting a remarkable 14-for-16 from the field.

In Wednesday’s 93-77 victory over North Florida, Turpin scored a career-high 19 points on 8-for-9 shooting and grabbed 5 rebounds. Turpin followed that up with a 13-point effort on Saturday against USF in Sunrise. Turpin corralled four rebounds in that one and again, was stellar from the field going 6-for-7 in a 75-62 FSU victory.

On the season, Turpin is now averaging better than seven points-per-game. While his rebound and block numbers are below what one might like to see from a 7’0″ senior, he has been very efficient offensively, shooting a team-best 67 percent from the field.
