FSU Basketball Player of the Week: Montay Brandon

For the third time this season, the Florida State Basketball Player of the Week honor goes to junior slasher Montay Brandon. Florida State played just one game this week, but again, Brandon was the best player on the floor for the Seminoles.

In Monday afternoon’s lackluster 63-59 win over Stetson, Brandon scored a game-high 17 points on 7-for-11 shooting and added 6 rebounds. Brandon also added a steal and a pair of assists in the victory.

With Aaron Thomas’ Florida State career over, Brandon now leads the Seminoles in both scoring and rebounds averaging 13.9 points and 5.4 boards-per-game. Brandon also gets the most minutes for the ‘Noles averaging better than 33 minutes of action per contest.

Offensively, Brandon has been very efficient for a swing-man, with a field goal percentage of 60. On the defensive end, Brandon is tied with Xavier Rathan-Mayes for the team-lead with 1.3 steals-per-game.

Brandon and the Seminoles will conclude non-conference play this week. Florida State hosts Florida on Tuesday before traveling to Starkville to face Mississippi State on Friday night.
