For the second straight year, a Florida State player was selected in the first round of Major League Baseball’s Amateur Draft as junior outfielder D.J. Stewart was selected 25th overall by the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night.

Stewart played in 64 of FSU’s 65 games this season and led the Seminoles in virtually every category. Stewart hit .318 with 15 home runs, 59 RBIs and was among the nation’s leaders with 69 walks and a .500 on-base percentage.

After being named ACC Player of the Year in 2014, Stewart was selected to the conference’s first team in 2015. Stewart finishes his career with a .344 average, 27 home runs and 168 RBIs.

Stewart becomes the highest FSU player drafted since James Ramsey went 23rd overall to the St. Louis Cardinals in 2012. The draft will continue with rounds 3 through 10 on Tuesday.
