The baseball season may be over for Florida State, but a former Seminole pitcher picked up his first big league win this week.
The Professio”Nole” Athlete of the Week for the week of June 8th through the 14th goes to New York Mets’ rookie reliever Sean Gilmartin.
In three appearances this week, Gilmartin threw four scoreless innings without giving up a hit and allowed just a single walk. Gilmartin picked up his first career win Sunday in a 10-8 victory over the Atlanta Braves by throwing two scoreless innings of relief.
On the season, Gilmartin has been outstanding for the Mets with a 1-0 record and a 2.01 ERA in 24 appearances.
